BONUS FREE PRINTABLE DETAILED VEIL FAQ GUIDE How to Select the Best Veil to Complement Your Wedding DressBridal accessories, especially a bridal veil, is the finishing touch to any bridal ensemble. Besides the perfect dress, the bridal veil is the one unmistakable element that should elevate your wedding day look. Similar to how wedding dresses range from simple and elegant, to extravagant and sparkling, veils do too. While a veil is no longer an absolute must for the modern bride, many women are still choosing to wear them, mostly because, well, it makes them feel like a bride! The trick is knowing what type of veil to pair with what type of wedding dress to make the most impact. As you might guess, simple wedding veils best complement simple wedding dresses. Fewer layers of fabric will ensure that every detail of your gown stays visible. These veils are also excellent for dresses with dramatic backs. Meanwhile, embellished dresses with lots of beadwork or sparkles benefit from veils with raw edges or details that echo the details of the dress design. Modern dresses include fit-and-flare, mermaid, and tea-length dresses. Blushers, square-cut, or layered designs that fall shoulder to elbow length often work best with these dresses. A Gown with a Long Train As long as your gown doesn't have a ton of back detail, you can pretty much wear any type of veil with a dress that has a long train. Our favorite, however, is by far a Cathedral Veil as it creates a dramatic, ethereal look. Just make sure the veil extends past the train. This is particularly important if the train on the wedding gown is heavily beaded or has a lot of lace and embellishments. A Heavily Embellished Gown If you have your heart set on a heavily beaded or embellished dress, you can go in the same direction with your veil. For the princess bride who loves bling, a classic, raw edge cathedral veil with scattered Swarovski that will 'twinkle' as you walk down the aisle is absolutely stunning. A Vintage Wedding Dress If your something borrowed happens to be your wedding dress, why not go all out with a birdcage veil to match? It will become the ornate part of the ensemble! A Dress with a Statement Back A breathtaking ornate or sheer illusion lace back is a popular trend. To show off your beautiful back, we recommend a cathedral veil without elaborate beadwork or covered in crystal accents in the body of the veil. Think sheer and chic, with a fine edging of beadwork. Remember to steer clear of multiple layers of fabric as not to block the view of your dress details. A Modern Dress Blusher Veil Shoulder Veil Elbow Veil For brides opting to go the contemporary route (think fit-and-flare, mermaid gowns and tea-length dresses), a more modern style veil is perfectly appropriate, these are the short, layered, square-cut and blusher styles. A short veil (shoulder to elbow length) is great for a tea-length dress or a city hall dress. A Short Wedding Dress The shorter the dress, the shorter the veil. For a sassy, cocktail length gown or shorter, we love a birdcage veil, or better yet, a French Netting Birdcage Veil not only gives your entire look a vintage feel but also a sense of elegance. A "Beachy" Bohemian Dress Getting hitched oceanfront? A light single layer fingertip veil with a few thin rows of elegant crystals to catch the sun is great for a beach wedding when you want the veil flowing in the wind but not to be too cumbersome. Whatever style veil you decide on, make sure it complements the dress & doesn't overwhelm it. DOWNLOAD YOUR FREE DETAILED VEIL FAQ GUIDE
